traditional website and blogs

One topic I have been encouraged to discuss is the difference between a traditional website and blogs.
For this discussion I would state that a “traditional” website would mean a static, or mainly static organizational website.

Traditionally I would consider “traditional” websites more professional then blogs, but as industries expand into social media and other Web 2.0 technologies, it seems organizations are bringing professionalism to the user drive web content. For example the college I work for, the Library runs a news blog to transmit pertinent organizational information. I would think that it could be easier for the Library personal to update their blog, then to change the home page for the Library itself. This could add a certain level of ease to an otherwise marginally skillful task. Also allowing users to comment on blog adds one of the powerful Web 2.0 features, allowing the organization an additional opportunity for feedback.
